Speed and travel time calculator

Time, distance and speed are three faces of one relationship: time is distance divided by speed, and because the calculation uses an average speed, stops, traffic jams and acceleration stay outside the result.

How do I calculate travel time?

Divide the distance by the average speed: 200 kilometres at 90 km/h is 200 / 90 = 2.22 hours, or 2 hours and 13 minutes. To turn the decimal part of an hour into minutes, multiply it by 60. A real journey takes longer, because stops are not in the average speed.

How do I convert speed into running pace?

Pace in minutes per kilometre is 60 divided by speed in km/h: 12 km/h gives 60 / 12 = 5 minutes per kilometre, and 10 km/h gives 6 minutes. To go back, divide 60 by the pace. For metres per second, divide the speed by 3.6: 90 km/h is 25 m/s.
