How do I work out what a device uses?
Multiply the power in watts by the hours of use and divide by a thousand. A 2000 W fan heater running three hours a day uses 2000 × 3 / 1000 = 6 kWh a day, or 180 kWh a month. For the cost, multiply those kilowatt-hours by the kWh price in your contract.
Why does price times kWh not equal the bill?
An Estonian household bill has several parts: the energy price, the grid service, state charges including excise, and VAT — and the grid service includes a monthly fee that does not depend on how much you use. A real kilowatt-hour therefore costs more than the energy price alone, so the calculator's figure is a floor.
