How are working days counted?
Working days here means Monday to Friday, and both chosen dates are included in the count. A span from a Monday to the Friday of the following week — twelve calendar days — therefore comes to ten working days. Two full weeks always hold ten, unless a public holiday falls inside them.
Are Estonian public holidays deducted?
They are not. The calculator counts Monday to Friday only, so Estonian public holidays have to be subtracted by hand. There are twelve, and some come in runs: 23 and 24 June, and 24, 25 and 26 December. Easter Sunday and Pentecost always fall on a Sunday, so they never reduce a weekday count.
What is a shortened working day?
Under the Estonian Employment Contracts Act, the employer shortens by three hours the working day preceding New Year's Day, Independence Day on 24 February, Victory Day on 23 June and Christmas Eve. The day itself stays a working day and stays in the count — the hours shrink, not the number of days.
