What is the VAT rate in Estonia in 2026?
Estonia's standard VAT rate is 24 per cent, in force since 1 July 2025. The Tax and Customs Board has confirmed the rise from 22 per cent is permanent. Reduced rates are 13% on accommodation, 9% on books, medicines and periodicals, and 0% on certain supplies.
How do you add VAT to a price?
Multiply the price before VAT by the rate and add the result. At the standard 24% rate that means multiplying by 1.24. A price of €100 before VAT becomes €124 including VAT, of which €24 is the tax itself.
How do you extract VAT from a price?
Divide the price including VAT by 1.24 to get the net price; the difference is the VAT. From €124 including VAT the net price is €100 and the VAT is €24. VAT is never 24 per cent of the gross price.
When do the 13% and 9% rates apply?
13 per cent applies to accommodation, including accommodation with breakfast. 9 per cent applies to books, study materials, medicines and medical devices, and periodicals. The zero rate covers intra-Community supplies and exports, among others.
